I feel like I am finally able to draw breath - well, at least one or two. The quilt show for the mountain guild is over. I was unable to attend (thanks to the kids), but I heard it was a smashing success!
I was not able to finish all of my projects for the show, but I did finish up my last state mini quilt. This is New York.
It did not turn out exactly how I envisioned it, but done is done. I think what I don't like about it are the quilting lines of the face. I am no good at drawing faces, so I really didn't know what to do there. I knew it needed something, but I didn't have the bravery to quilt the dickens out of it like I've seen other quilters of faces do. My poor Lady Liberty just looks a little tired, and maybe hungry (or is that just me?).
Ah, well, it would be pretty boring if we didn't have things to try to improve on, right?
What blocks have you working on? I would love to see. Link up your fabulous blocks. You put a lot of hard work into them - show them off! This free linky will stay open until the first Monday of next month, but I will repost it every Tuesday until a new month starts.

Blue Jay Quilt Walk - this Saturday
If you are in the Los Angeles area, here is a fun opportunity to take a stroll through an adorable mountain town during a free outdoor quilt show! There is also a fabulous quilt auction that benefits Camp Paivika (a local camp for the handicapped). You can find some really awesome deals on quilts!
I hope you will check it out!

Louisiana state mini finish - Building Blocks Tuesday
I've got no new blocks to share today, but I will share my finished Louisiana State mini quilt. It represents the bayous with their cypress trees and Spanish moss.
I've been working furiously trying to finish up a lap size quilt for the show, and nearly forgot that I still needed to get my New York mini done. Tonight might be a long night for me since they both need to be essentially finished by tomorrow night. Yikes! Wish me luck.

Lone Starburst from the past - Building Blocks Tuesday
I have no new blocks to share today, so I thought I would pick a favorite from my past. I made this one in May 2013 for Sarah in the Make it Modern bee. It is called a Lone Starburst block by Anna at Six White Horses. She has the pattern for free on Craftsy HERE.

Churn dash - Building Blocks Tuesday
A tad late, but here is Building Blocks Tuesday with a few yellow churn dash blocks that I made this week for Janeth in the We Bee With It bee on Flickr. I must admit that I am not churning out much of anything quilty lately. Just distracted by other things. It might take me a couple of weeks to get back on track.

Louisiana mini redesigned - Building Blocks Tuesday
Mom-cations rock! With just a few days away, I feel completely refreshed, not exactly rested, but refreshed. I returned late last night just in time for dinner and the bedtime routine. This morning I've already taken the kids to school and someone to the airport, washed my car, cleaned the house, and completely redesigned my Louisiana mini quilt!
My original design was a scene from Mardi Gras, but sometimes we have to admit one's limitations/lack of abilities. I am not very good at drawing people, and the scene had quite a few people in it. Given that I am a tad short on time too, I felt a bayou scene might be more easily accomplished. Wish me luck!
Janie asked if I thought about creating a tutorial for my Montana mini. Honestly, yes, I thought about it, but I was a little caught up in figuring things out as I went along that I didn't document the process. I'm probably not going to make another Montana quilt soon, so instead, I am trying to do a better job of documenting the process on Louisiana. I hope you will check back to see that post when it is ready (the quilt is due in less than 2 weeks, so it won't be long).
