Craftsy Thanksgiving and Black Friday Sale

Craftsy

(Sponsored Post)

Hi everyone!  If you are in the States, I hope you are enjoying your Thanksgiving today.  It might be the only day that I get to spend a little time catching up on my blog reading.  The turkey is already in the oven and most of the side dishes are made already too.  So, I plan on kicking back and enjoying part of the holiday like most Americans - on the couch.  Except, I plan on catching up on my blog reading and quilt designing instead of watching football.

It has been quite a while since I told you about any Craftsy  sales.  They do have them frequently, but I don't like posting about them all the time.  I hope you read this blog to find out about what I am making and quilting; I don't want to fill your feed with advertisements all the time.  HOWEVER, this sale is a good one!  All classes are under $19.99 until December 1st, and they have great deals on supplies today (Thursday) too.

I must admit that I have been pretty good about not adding new classes to my list until I finish up some of the ones I haven't finished yet.  BUT.....this sale is so tempting!  And Craftsy has added some amazing new classes recently that are very tempting.  There is a new FMQ class called "The Secrets of Free-Motion Quilting" by Christina Cameli that looks interesting, and a foundation paper piecing class by Elizabeth Dackson called "Start Foundation Paper Piecing".  I've always wondered if she has a great tip on getting the centers of her stars so perfect.  Elizabeth also has a "Start Free-Motion Quilting" class too, and Angela Walters has a new class, and then there is a class by Patsy Thompson, an applique class by Amanda Murphy.......I can tell I am going to be in some trouble later today.

Enjoy your day, and thanks for reading!

Jen

Urban Nine Patch blast from the past - Building Blocks Tuesday

3 x 6 bee mosaic

Hey, y'all.  I've got no new blocks today, so I thought I would show you some of the first bee blocks I made a long time ago.  These are Urban Nine Patch blocks, pattern from Sew Kind of Wonderful and use their Quick Curve Ruler.  When I saw this pattern, I really wanted to try it out.  My bee-mates gave me the opportunity.  Here it is over 2 years later, and I only have a table runner in this pattern for myself, but someday......

For those of you in the States, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving this week.

What blocks have you working on?  I would love to see.  Link up your fabulous blocks.  You put a lot of hard work into them - show them off!  This free linky will stay open until the first Monday of next month, but I will repost it every Tuesday until a new month starts.

Granny Square - Building Blocks Tuesday

We Bee Learning June - Granny Square

I've got no new blocks to share this week as I've been furiously working on my Michael Miller Pastel Challenge.  It isn't going as well as I hoped, but I should have something to enter.  Because of holiday plans, I have to finish this week even though the deadline is the end of the month.

I am sharing this little Granny Square block that I made ages ago for a bee mate.  I do love Granny Squares!  I really should make a quilt for myself with these adorable blocks, perhaps in Flea Market Fancy fabric - after all, I have been hoarding it for ages.

What blocks have you working on?  I would love to see.  Link up your fabulous blocks.  You put a lot of hard work into them - show them off!  This free linky will stay open until the first Monday of next month, but I will repost it every Tuesday until a new month starts.

Blank check - Instagram Mini Quilt Swap item - a finish Friday

IG Mini Quilt Swap item

Finally!  a finish!  This mini is for my partner in the Instagram Mini Quilt Swap hosted by Curly Boy.

My partner didn't give me a whole lot to go, so I took that as a blank check!  I know she likes both Modern and Traditional looks and favors the cool colors (just like me).  I chose to tryout one of the blocks from Jaybird Quilt's Park Bench pattern, and then I quilted the daylights out of it - that's how I roll after all.

You can see the quilting a bit more in this light.
As you can see, I quilted my favorite seafoam pattern in the outer border, but my favorite part are the filled diamonds.  I hope she likes it.

Nails on a chalkboard - Building Blocks Tuesday

Quiltcon Charity Block

I haven't made much this week, but one thing I was able to cross off my list was this 24'' x 24'' block for the QuiltCon Charity Challenge.  I joined the individual group and together we decided to make blocks with HST's of varying sizes.  The challenge had a set color palette, and was supposed to highlight an alternate grid pattern.  Our group chose to use the color "Wasabi" as our background and incorporate prints and solids from the other colors in the palette.

Can I just say......I really dislike "Wasabi".  Knowing that there is a slim possibility that I might eat these next few words sometime in the future (after all, I have warmed to color orange a tiny bit)- I really don't ever want to use it again.  It reminds me of bile.  It may look like a lime green in the picture, but it is more yellow than that.  Split pea colored fabric would have more appeal. This block took longer than I anticipated to put together, so I had to keep looking at that horrid color.  It nearly drove me mad.  I just hope that whoever gets our charity quilt in the end, doesn't feel the same way.

Do you have a color that has the same effect as nails scraping on a chalkboard for you?

Fall Modern Maples - Building Blocks Tuesday

Untitled

It's finally fall around here!  Well, sort of.  We don't really get dramatic changing of the seasons here at the beach, but anytime the temps dip down below 70, we break out our jeans and sweaters.  I've even been known to wear my snow boots when it's only 60.  We've only had a couple of days of cooler weather, and it is supposed to heat up again tomorrow.  But, it was just enough fall to get me in the fall mood.  I even made these Modern Maples blocks for Karri in the We Bee With It Bee.

Voting time - Blogger's Quilt Festival

Voting started yesterday!  I hope you will pop on over to the main page on Amy's Creative Side and click through to each category to vote.  There are some truly amazing quilts this year.  I had to mop up a puddle of drool after looking through them.

Just a quick tip - vote for your favorite in each category first.  Most of the categories give you 3 votes, but I had at least one category only give me one vote when I was expecting 3 and I didn't get to vote for my favorite.
AmysCreativeSide.com

I'm entered in the Large Quilt category with my "Oh Say Can You See" quilt:

And the Modern quilt category with "Modern Grace".

Thanks for reading and considering me for your vote,
