Fall - en star! Get it? |
Of course, it is easy for me to dramatize the whole thing. I am here where the palm trees stay green all year round, and as my uncle pointed out, I don't have to rake those beautiful leaves just to have the wind blow them back in the yard again. Perhaps, I will just enjoy the colors in my own way.
Fall - ing for foliage? (I am no good at naming blocks) |
As I was making blocks for this blog hop, I stumbled across Anjeanette's Blog. She had a great tutorial on how to make a leaf table runner. What better way to bring a little New England into my home at the beach? I doubled the size of her blocks, because I needed something a little bigger. Here is my go at it:
I made one block from a bunch of scraps, loved it, and then made some friends....
Can you tell, I don't have a lot of orange scraps? And, that top tip was a little tricky. I may need to redo a few before putting everything together.
But they do look nice all together, don't they? Obviously, still a work in progress, but this blog hop DID call for unfinished blocks! (Thank goodness!)
Anjeanette's finished table runner looks amazing! Please do hop over there as well today and tell her so.
Also, here are today's other participants!!

I can't wait to see what everyone else came up with on this last day of the blog hop.
Thank you for stopping by today!

Love all your blocks and your leaf runner is going to be stunning. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWonderful blocks! Perfect colors for fall. Your Uncle is so right, the raking is no fun at all. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWonderful colours for fall. Your runner will be terrific. Thanks for sharing with us all.
ReplyDeleteHi!! All of your blocks are wonderful!!! Love your colors!!! Perfect!!! Well I guess raking leaves is not much fun, but you never wait for the wind to blow them around, you have to invite some little people to jump in them with you!!!! Hee hee Thanks for the fun!!!
ReplyDeleteThe colors are as varied as the trees - simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteReally nice blocks, they look so difficult and great colours! thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteNew England in the Fall is high up on my wish list, but your Table Runner will make a great substitute in the meantime!
ReplyDeleteAmazing blocks. That will be a stunning table runner! Lucky you, living on a beach.....I get to experience the "joys" of the seasons here....mainly seems to consist of grey skies, rain and mushy leaves! Better to imagine all those lovely leaves, crisp and colourful! Well done!
ReplyDeleteLove the first block, I have been looking for the 'right' sun or star motif for ages as a feature block for string pieced crumb background, I think I may have found it! xx
ReplyDeleteOooh these are all so lovely, they will look fabulous on your table - I live in England so we have wonderful autumnal colours every year and get to play in the leaves which is lovely but then living by a beach sounds idyllic too! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love your leaf blocks, they will make a great table runner. The star blocks are beautiful as well. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful blocks, great colors!
ReplyDeleteI was wow'd when I saw the first star block! The colors are stunning. I love paper piecing. Then I continued on and liked the next block, too! What a cutie! Then you turned us on to Anjeanette's blog and her wonderful tutorial. Your blocks from that tutorial are amazing. I like your choice of fabrics. I have seen a similar block with a pieced stem. I like the embroidered stem - it gives a different look to the block that I really enjoy. Thank you for taking time to participate in the blog hop. I'm sure you inspired not only me but many others - some who commented and others who are busy and did not take the time to comment. Again, many, many thanks.

ReplyDeleteJen-Your blocks are stunning! I can't believe you're a "newbie" It's interesting to me that you mentioned, as have others, that that in different parts of the country the leaves are just beginning to change. Here in California, the Bay Area specifically, they have already done so. I guess I assumed that the changes take place about the same time, but apparently not. I recall seeing on the news that some states did get that first winter blast of snow just this past week. The weather people seemed surprised, but I also heard awhile back that we were going to have an early winter. Thanks for sharing your beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteYour leaves will make an amazing table runner. Thanks for sharing.
