Lucky Star resurfaces - Building Blocks Tuesday

Spring Break is over, the kids went back to school yesterday -- Hooray!  Silly me, I thought Spring Break would actually be restful.  Not!  Between a sick kid, a trip to Disneyland, an art project to do for the PTA, and of course, spring cleaning, I didn't get much rest (or sew) at all.  But, I did have some fun, and just getting started on the spring cleaning was a huge accomplishment.

Lucky Star BOM - July 2013 block

Sunday, I had about an hour to myself, so I pulled out my 2013 Lucky Stars BOM box.  I've completed about 7 of the blocks but have several more to go.  This is the July 2013 block and I think it looks fab-u-lous!   One of the things I love about many of the stars from Don't Call Me Betsy's BOM is that I can imagine a whole quilt made from just one month's design (vs. a sampler look).  Elizabeth is doing a 2014 Lucky Star BOM too and the designs are lovely.

Also over the weekend, I attended a guild meeting up in the mountains.  I picked up several of the BOM's for charity quilts, so I will do those soon, and I attended an applique class taught by Tonee White.  She is our local quilting celebrity.  If you have ever heard of "Appliquilt ", then you know her work.  I actually did alright with the needleturn heart we worked on.  I had a few spots that weren't as curvy as they should have been, but as with most things, my skills would improve if only I practiced more.

What blocks have you been working on?  I would love to see.  Link up your fabulous blocks.  You put a lot of hard work into them - show them off!  This free linky will stay open until the first Monday of next month, but I will repost it every Tuesday until a new month starts.

  1. Lovely star. School holidays are in full swing here too.

  2. Sounds like a great weekend ! We don't go back to school until Tuesday! Yippee! The star is fab

  3. This star is great, I love the colors and arrangement. Yep, I could imagine a whole quilt of this easily. Sorry your kiddos have been sick, that is always so difficult because it impacts everything.

I LOVE comments, they make my day! Most of the time I am too distracted to respond right away, but I DO read them...always.

When I respond, I usually do it via email. Sometimes Google makes this easy and sometimes it doesn't. I usually only reply when it is easy. Just sayin.

Obviously, I can't reply to you at all if you are a no reply blogger. Also, sorry to Anonymous commentors, too much spam lately. You will have to leave a comment another way.

Have a Super Sparkly Day!
